Local History- Wilson County, Kansas

The History of Wilson County Kansas: The People of the South Wind was one of the best county histories that I have come across.  I was quite pleased to see the level of local history it provided and then went above and beyond to include 1,000's of family histories and old pictures.  Not only did it provide that extensive information, but also was respectable by including the Native American history.  I was very excited to see a section on my 5th great grandfather, Greenzil Whiteside.  It provided a glimpse inside his life and will be helpful in the project I hope to complete on the Whiteside Family. I wish other counties I am researching had this kind of information.  Luckily, I was able to get this book through interlibrary loan.

  1. I don't remember seeing a Greenzil grave for the Whitesides.
