Christ Miller: Civic Life in Jewell Iowa

Through my newspaper research of Christ Miller in Hamilton County, Iowa, I soon discovered that he was quite active in his community and participated in local government.   Below are some of the things I found.

Here is Christ Miller in the Jewell, Iowa Business Directory

In the newspaper articles below Christ Miller gives a petition to the City Council in Jewell asking for a street lamp to be installed by his home in Jewell.  It appears that the request was granted and he received the street lamp.

Christ Miller making a donation to a community member to help him keep his home.

Not sure if this is our C Miller but it shows a C Miller running for a three year term as a city councilmen.    This  was in 1896.   I wouldn't be surprised if it was Christ Miller.

It appears that not only was Christ Miller a farmer and land owner but he also owned property in the city of Jewell.  He also appears to be some kind of real estate agent.

Looks like he has some kind of building in Jewell that community members used for various functions.  Below it show the Ladies' Society of the M. E. Church using the building for a chicken pie supper.

Christ Miller being praised by the community and saving the town money by putting in a sidewalk by his house near the train depot.

stay tuned I have more about Christ Miller!!
